Tables & Desks
A table is the hardest-working surface in a house, and the one most likely to show it. These are solid-timber tops on braced frames, finished with oil rather than a film lacquer so a scratch can be sanded back and re-oiled instead of living there permanently. Dining heights are standard, desk heights are set for a chair rather than a stool, and the coffee and side tables are sized to sit lower than the seat beside them. Round tops suit tight rooms and awkward corners; rectangles seat more people per metre.
